Choosing the Best Bed Shape For Your Dog
Human beings, similar to dogs, have many sleeping preferences. Some people like sleeping on their back, and others prefer sleeping on their stomach. Others enjoy sleeping in pajamas, and there are individuals who like sleeping absolutely naked! Dogs may not have as many options, but each dog certainly has his/her own unique sleeping traits. There are three main categories which dogs fall into with regards to sleeping tendencies. These groups are listed below, and with each category, the best type of bed is also recommended. Please read on.
1) Curlers:
These are dogs who like to curl themselves up in a circular fashion when they are resting or sleeping. For dogs like this, it's best to get a round-shaped bed so the dog can contour his/her body to the curved ridges of the sleeping surface.
2) Sprawlers:
This second group refers to dogs who like to stretch themselves out lengthwise when sleeping. For these dogs, it's best to use flat, rectangular beds which allow them to completely stretch their limbs and muscles. Rectangular beds also provide superior support for older dogs with joint and bone disorders.
3) Couch Lovers:
Most of you are probably very familiar with this third group of dogs. You could even call them couch potatoes, because they just love to plop down on a sofa and relax for hours and hours. For these leisure-loving dogs, bolster beds are the way to go. These beds offer lush and luxurious comfort, similar to the sensation offered by your living-room couch.
Once again, before you rush out to get a dog bed, it's extremely important that you take some time to observe your dog's resting/sleeping tendencies. This way, you're absolutely sure that your pet will love the bed you eventually buy.
